Saplings and Trees

Zizi's SAPLINGS AND TREES

SAPLINGS AND TREES

I want the Saplings, not the Trees!
New Saplings, bearing glorious Gifts
Spread by the Promised One who comes
From Father, and from Father’s Son.

I do not want “maturing trees”;
Not Rome’s, Geneva’s – any ones grown up
Through time; they are diseased.
Some flickering Life they do preserve,
Stretched thin beneath accretions placed
To lock God’s Life in time –
To make God’s Life subservient to Man.

Why should I fight “the long defeat”
Encumbered with the chains of Man?
No more!
I want the Saplings, clean and bright..
I want the Gifts that chase the night,
That chase the wolves, that give us sight
And wisdom, all beyond our might.

Zizi’s SAPLINGS AND TREES:

A tiny new tree grew in the midst of a deep-rooted darkness; the only plant to flower, to bloom with life and abundance. To me, the little tree symbolizes the joy of change and growth. It lives in direct opposition to the ponderous stagnant growth pattern of the surrounding dead giants.
